Ali and Danny is about that Ali and Danny are teenage actors, one from Tehran and the other from London, participating in the International Children's Film Festival in Isfahan. As they are roommates, they form a strong friendship, however, cultural and language differences lead to misunderstandings which slowly drives them apart. They are unwillingly caught in an adventure from which they cannot escape unless they are conciliate. As they are visiting Isfahan's Bazar, they argue again and get separated. Danny leaves Ali but is caught by a group of smugglers. Ali goes looking for him but finds the smugglers trying to feed old coins to an Afghan boy and retrieve them later after killing him. Ali helps the Afghan boy escape, and the smugglers catch him instead. On his part, Danny who has managed to escape, gets help from some other boys participating in the Festival and the police, and they are eventually able to save Ali. They return to the hotel together to find out that they have won the prize for best actor.
