The Insane Flew Away is about that Yalda has married Rouzbeh who is a war veteran. Rouzbeh has to be hospitalized sometimes for to his illness in order to be treated. Yalda loves him so much, but she somehow doubts their relationship. Rouzbeh works in the judiciary and is investigating cases of financial corruptions. During the war years, Mostowfi who is Yalda’s uncle, has gained a lot of wealth and influence through usury, smuggling and embezzlement. Mostowfi’s stepson loves Yalda and decides to use his father’s influence marrying her. Mostowfi tries to misuse Rouzbeh’s illness and Yalda’s distorted mental situation and make them separated. He also has planned for her father’s wealth. He makes a plan to poison Yalda’s father and puts Yalda in a difficult situation. Mostowfi is going forward in his plans step by step and brings Ferasat (who is the head of legal branch and bank properties) to his game. Ferasat meets Yalda and falls in love with her. Trying to perish Rouzbeh, Mostowfi arranges a meeting between Rouzbeh and Ferasat who was once his professor. Rouzbeh who has found out about the truth, decides to fight for rights of Yalda and her father. Yalda who is going to accept the conditions said by Mostowfi and Ferasat in order to provide for her father’s treatment, eventually comes back to Rouzbeh again. But Mostowfi makes Rouzbeh poisoned too and he is hospitalized again. Yalda goes to see Rouzbeh in the sanatorium and there she encounters Mostowfi and Ferasat. After they go out from the room, the sound of a shooting is heard.
