Golshifteh Farahani ( گلشیفته فراهانی ) was born on 10th July 1983 and is an international Iranian actress. She has dual Iranian and French nationality. Golshifteh Farahani started her acting career in theatre at the age of 6. Since then she has played in more than 40 films, many of which have been screened or awarded at international festivals. Amongst her famous Iranian films are Bahman Ghobadi's Half Moon, Dariush Mehrjui's Santoori , Rasool Mollagholipour's M for Mother and Asg ...har Farhadi's About Elly. Starring in Ridley Scotts Body of Lies (2008), alongside Leonardo Di Caprio and Russel Crowe, Golshifteh Farahani became the first Iranian to act in a major Hollywood production. She has also played in Paterson (2016) with Adam Driver, in the last Pirates of the Caribbean (2017) and in the French movie Santa & Cie (2017).

The Santoor Player is about that Ali is a well-renowned santoor player and music teacher whose concerts are the talk of the community. He also secretly nurtures a heroin addiction, and supports his habit by playing at weddings and parties after he was disowned by his wealthy and reputable family. The film charts his decline into despondency as his addiction grows increasingly worse and takes a sizable toll on both his career and personal life. The movie even ventures into gritty shantytowns and the haunts of homeless drug addicts. 'Santoori' is an emotional and intensely watchable drama about one man's downward spiral and the agonising steps he must take towards redemption. M for Mother is about that A harrowing story of the long-term consequences of the Iran-Iraq war. A couple expecting a child is forced to make an impossible decision after being exposed to chemical weapons. They discover their unborn baby has inadvertently become a victim of war after being diagnosed with birth defects. As their relationship becomes more and more fraught, we see their journey in dealing with their tragic situation and the harsh reality that the devastation goes beyond the war.
