How Starry Was the Night is about that Late in the summer; Cheshmeh-Sarveh village, Lorestan Bakhtiar is a blind young boy who begs to make a living. The people have abandoned the village to get away from its scorching heat and the intensity of agricultural duties. They have settled between the mountains and they live in the tents. Bakhtiar is the only villager who has stayed there. He waits for the passing cars to stop by; thus, he earns some negligible amount of money from the passengers or the drivers. His brother, Mirza, is his only one in touch with his family, who live in the tents. One day after finishing his daily work, on the way back to his home, Bakhtiar notices a car in which there is a bride. His mood changes; thereby, he starts hallucinating. The next day he looks everywhere in the village to find the source of the sound. He reaches somewhere; as if it is a lake (a sewage). The sound of the frogs attract him and the lake becomes his sensational resort. Then, Bakhtiar passes most of his time by the lake till the autumn arrives. With the first autumn rain, the lake turns to a rivulet. Yet Bakhtiar has got nothing to think of.
