Soudabeh Moradian ( سودابه مرادیان ) is an Iranian independent filmmaker based in California. She has created many movies about Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq. A number of her movies have been in the official selection of various international film festivals and many of them won awards. She mainly focuses on women, social issues and the psychological impacts of war. Her most notable works include 'Story of the Land on Ashes' (2001), 'Doomsday Machine' (2009), 'Burnt City' (2012), and more recently,

Doomsday Machine is about that Soudabeh Moradian's documentary centers around the aftermath of war. Set in a psychiatric hospital in Iran, shortly after the end of the 8-year Iraq war, Moradian takes a look at the people who have 'survived'. Original footage is accompanied by painful monologues from the veterans who have forgotten nothing, providing the viewer with a rude awakening. 'Doomsday Machine' is a direct and honest portrayal of the lingering damage of its participants and the costs that recovering societies inevitably pay. In war there are no winners. Burnt City is about that Soudabeh Moradian's short documentary is an experimental collage of different footage interspersed with fascinating facts about a Bronze Age ruins called Burnt City. Wonderful shots of the archaeological site, located in the southeastern part of Iran, capture the raw beauty of the ruins. However, cutting back and forth between images of this once significant urban settlement and footage of modern day Los Angeles, the film is much more than a simple image of Burnt City. Through image and sound editing, it creates an internal poetic journey into city atmospheres of past and present. In this film Soudabeh Moradian collaborates with Amin Aslani, Shirmohammad Espandar.
