داستان با مرگ مهلقا خانم شروع میشود و او به دلیل بدهکار بودن وصیت میکند که خانهاش را بعد از مرگش بفروشند و پول طلبکاران را بدهند. در همین حین مهیار در سایتی غیرقانونی کار میکند که مشکلاتی را برای خانواده به وجود میآورد. پس از آن اهالی روستا به دلیل زلزله به صحرا میروند و در آنجا تا عادی شدن اوضاع صبر میکنند.
